Nickname
Rams - The St. Louis Rams are one of the most beloved teams in the NFL, and their nickname has a long history that dates back to 1936 when they were known as the Cleveland Rams. The name was chosen by then-owner Homer Marshman, who wanted to honor his favorite college football team at Fordham University – hence why they’re still known as “the Rams” today.

Marshman wasn't just inspired by Fordham's mascot either; he also saw it as an opportunity for marketing since "Rams" is short and catchy enough for people to remember easily. This strategy worked out perfectly because not only did it help increase attendance at games, and helped them become one of the first professional sports franchises with an official logo – which featured two Rams facing each other on a shield background!

Fast forward almost 80 years later, and you can see how successful this branding decision was: The St Louis Rams have been in existence since 1995 after relocating from Los Angeles (where they played from 1946-1994) and continue to be one of America's premier football teams with fans all over the country cheering them on every Sunday during NFL season. They won three NFC championships (1999, 2001 & 2018) along with Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 - proving that Homer Marshman made a wise choice back then when naming his franchise after those rugged yet agile animals we all know so well: The Ram!

History of the St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams, previously known as the Cleveland Rams, have a long and storied history in the NFL, dating back to their founding in 1937 as the Cleveland Rams. The team was one of the original members of what is now known as the National Football League (NFL). They played their first game against fellow expansion team Philadelphia Eagles on September 26th, 1937, and went on to win 35-10.

Throughout their time in Cleveland, they had some success, making it all the way to three championship games, but unfortunately never won any titles during this period. In 1945, they moved westward, becoming part of Los Angeles’s rich sports culture, joining teams like the Dodgers and Lakers, who were already established there.

During the years 1946-1994, when they were based out of LA, the Los Angeles Rams experienced much more success than before, with 11 division championships and five conference championships leading up to Super Bowl XIV, where they sadly lost 31–19 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though they didn't win a championship title during these years, they still impacted football fans throughout America due mainly to legendary players such as Jack Youngblood and Eric Dickerson, among many others.

In 1995, after almost 60 years since leaving Ohio for California, the franchise again relocated, this time moving eastward towards Missouri, landing in St. Louis, where it has been ever since then until 2016 when yet another move happened, taking them back home to sunny Los Angeles once more! This new chapter started well enough for the Los Angeles Rams to make the playoffs twice over the next few seasons. Still, nothing beyond that could be achieved thus far, despite having great individual talents like Todd Gurley II or Jared Goff playing under center. Only the future will tell if good fortune awaits them upon their return to the West Coast!
